Sinner won ATP finals by defeating Fritz

Turin. Jannik Sinner concluded his brilliant season with his eighth title of the year, winning his first Nitto ATP Finals trophy.

The home favorite produced a brilliant performance to defeat Taylor Fritz 64, 64 and become the first Italian champion in the tournament's 55year history.

Additionally, with the straight sets win, Sinner became the first player since Ivan Lendl in 1986 to win an ATP Finals without losing a set, highlighting his stellar season, which began with wins at the Australian Open and on home soil. But ended with their first title.

He also achieved the ATP yearend No. 1 title during the Shanghai Masters in October.

Sinner said, “I really think there is still room for improvement. The higher level you play, the more nuances make the difference. I'm always trying to improve as a player and understand that. “I try to see what I can do better.”

By winning the ATP Finals trophy, Sinner received prize money of US$4,881,500, the largest prize money awarded to a winner in the history of the tour.

According to ATP data, the Italian player entered the tournament with US$12,032,935 in prize money for this season, taking his total in 2024 to US$16,914,435.

This year, Sinner won her first two Grand Slam titles by winning the Australian Open and the US Open. He became just the third man in the Open Era to win his first two majors in the same season.
