New Delhi . Tilak Verma became the youngest player to score a century against South Africa in Centurion T20. Earlier this record was in the name of India's Suresh Raina. However, everyone was surprised to see him batting at number 3. A question must have arisen in everyone's mind that how can a player playing in the middle order become a top order player? There is a very interesting story behind this which was revealed by captain Suryakumar Yadav after the match.
According to Surya, the decision to play at number 3 was of this young batsman himself, he had come forward on his own and asked for this opportunity from the captain.
After the victory in the third T20 match, Team India's T20 captain Surya has revealed this mystery. After the match, he first praised Tilak and said, “Seeing him bat like this, I feel that my job has become easier.”
Actually, Surya told that Tilak Verma talked to him after the second match about his batting order. Tilak said, give me a chance to bat at number three. After which he gave Tilak a chance to prove himself.
The Indian T20 captain said, “According to me, we are moving in the right direction. I am happy that Tilak has made good use of the opportunity. He has done what he said.”
Tilak Verma, who came to bat at number three, scored unbeaten 107 runs on 56 balls. This innings, played at a strike rate of 191.07, included 7 sixes and 8 fours. Tilak Verma scored the first century of his T20 International career.
Thanks to his innings, India set the target of 219 runs. In reply, the host team could score only 208 runs and Team India won the match by 11 runs.
Even though the South African team has lagged behind in the series, here in the fourth match, South Africa has a chance to level the fourmatch series. On the other hand, even though India has got an unassailable lead, it will have to win the last match to win this series.
