Santosh Kashyap appointed as the new head coach of Indian women's football team

New Delhi. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed Santosh Kashyap as the new head coach of the Indian senior women's football team. Kashyap will be accompanied by Priya PV as assistant coach and Raghuveer Praveen Khanolkar as goalkeeper coach.

“It is always an honour to coach the national team. I thank AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, the Technical Committee, Technical Department and other senior members of the federation for giving me this opportunity to coach the senior women's national team,” Kashyap told the AIFF media team.

Santosh Kashyap is a former Indian player. He has almost a decade of coaching experience. He has managed teams like Mohun Bagan AC, Aizawl FC, Mumbai FC, Salgaocar FC, Royal Wahingdoh FC, Rangdajied United FC, ONGC and Air India. The 58-year-old Kashyap has also been the assistant coach of NorthEast United FC and most recently Odisha FC.

Kashyap said, “Currently I am working as the Youth Development Head and Technical Director at Odisha FC. I have full faith in the current players of our senior women's national team. All of them are extremely talented, but we need to improve technically. I am sure I will be able to give the necessary advice to the team during the national camp.”

He further said, “I know the results of the last SAFF Championship were not as expected, but this time with the right strategy, right thinking and decision-making ability we can win the title back. Football has now become a very competitive sport, especially at the international level. We should not take any team lightly. SAFF is the first step, after this I have a big plan. I am sure this team can perform well.”
