Sakshi Malik, Geeta Phogat announce Wrestling Champions Super League

New Delhi. Former women wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Geeta Phogat on Monday announced the launch of Wrestling Champions Super League through social media posts.

Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi and 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Geeta posted a joint statement on social media platform 'X'.

“Our villages and communities raised us, the whole nation came together to make us champions. There can be no greater honour than fighting for the Tricolour. Your love and inspiration made this possible. We are grateful to both our public and private partners for their contributions, and we are especially grateful to the Government for its continued commitment and support,” he wrote in the post.

He said, “In return for the trust you have shown in us, it is important that we dedicate our sporting talent, experience, patience and success in the service of the sport. Therefore, together we announce the launch of Wrestling Champions Super League.”

Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat has also joined this new endeavour, and has extended his full support.

Sakshi, who was a prominent face along with Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat in the wrestlers' protest last year, had announced her retirement from wrestling in December last year.
