Sachin Tendulkar has the most Man of the Match awards in his name.


New Delhi . The uncrowned king of records in cricket, Sachin Tendulkar holds the world record for most Man of the Match awards and his compatriot Virat Kohli is closest to breaking this record.

Sachin has played a maximum of 664 matches in his international career from 1989 to 2013, in which he has received the Man of the Match award 76 times. Sachin has won this award 14 times in Tests and 62 times in ODIs. Sachin is far ahead of Virat in this matter by being Man of the Match 62 times in ODIs.

Team India's current great batsman Virat Kohli occupies the second position. Kohli has won the 'Player of the Match' award 67 times in 534 matches in his entire cricket career. Kohli has become 'Player of the Match' 10 times in Test cricket, 41 times in ODI and 16 times in T20 International cricket. Virat has retired from T20. He has only Test and ODI cricket left to break Sachin's record.

In third place is former Sri Lankan explosive batsman Sanath Jayasuriya. Jayasuriya played 586 matches in his career for Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, he was elected 'Player of the Match' 58 times. Jayasuriya has been chosen 'Player of the Match' four times in Test cricket, 48 times in ODI and six times in T20 International cricket.

In this order, Jacques Kallis of South Africa (519 matches, 57 awards) is at fourth place and Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka (594 matches, 50 awards) is at fifth place. Among current Indians, captain Rohit Sharma is at ninth position after winning this award 42 times in 484 matches.
