New Delhi. Former India batsman Robin Uthappa has claimed that the bid for wicketkeeperbatsman Rishabh Pant in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction will be between Rs 2528 crore.
After not being retained by Delhi Capitals, Pant is among the highprofile Indian players included in the auction to be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With him in the auction, teams like Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are expected to bid heavily on him.
Uthappa said on JioCinema, “I think Rishabh Pant will be bought for around Rs 2528 crore. He will definitely get a big amount and will become the highest paid player in this auction. Buying Pant at this price It will be interesting to see because I think Punjab Kings would like to buy him and RCB would also like to buy him in a leadership role and as a wicketkeeperbatsman.”
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra also expressed a similar opinion. “I think Rishabh Pant is going to be the most expensive player in the history of IPL. If there is a good rapport between Pant and Punjab Kings, they will try hard to buy him, otherwise RCB is the most likely destination for Rishabh Pant But I believe other teams will also bid for Pant. Indian players will be the hottest sellers in this mega auction.”
Uthappa also feels that DC will try hard to buy back Shreyas Iyer, who was with the franchise from 2015 to 2021. DC will look hard for Shreyas Iyer, and he should go in the 1520 crore bracket, and Du Plessis above 10 crore. Indian young players like Nehal Wadhera and Ashutosh Sharma are a big part and reason for the success of any team, and you want them to perform really well. I think they will go above Rs 8 crore each.”
Chopra mentioned that young Australian opening batsman Jake FraserMcGurk could be picked up by Punjab Kings after a great opening with DC in IPL 2024. With Ricky Ponting being with the Punjab Kings, I think they will target Jake FraserMcGurk, and they will be keen to get him.”
