Melbourne. Perth Scorchers have included New Zealand World Cup champion Brooke Halliday as an overseas replacement player for the remaining matches of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 10. The club gave this information on Thursday.
Brook, 29, will replace England's Amy Jones for the Scorchers' final three WBBL 10 fixtures as the English wicketkeeperbatsman is set to join her international teammates for the multiformat series in South Africa.
Jones will play her final match against Sydney Thunder on Friday, while Halliday could make her WBBL debut on November 19 in the Scorchers' clash against the Adelaide Strikers at Karen Rolton Oval.
Halliday told cricket.com.au: “I got the call last Wednesday, so I had a bit of warning, which was nice… It was kind of unexpected, but I'm really excited. I'm quite lucky.” I've already got five or six days with the group, which is great. Sophie Devine is the only person I know in the team.”
“I think it will be great to play at the WACA, and then teamwise, I'm looking forward to playing with the Sixers because they're a very strong team. From an experience standpoint, I think it's really great,” he said. It will be a good challenge, which I'm looking forward to.”
Since making his debut against India in February 2021, Halliday has represented New Zealand in 76 matches (35 ODIs and 41 T20Is). The lefthander comes to the WBBL after helping New Zealand win their maiden T20 World Cup title, where she featured in each of the six matches.
Meanwhile, the Scorchers have announced an unchanged 13player squad for their clash with the Thunder at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday.
The Scorchers are currently third in the WBBL 10 table with four wins from six matches after Tuesday's 74run win over the Thunder at Drummoyne Oval.
