Chennai. The first match of the twoTest series between Team India and Bangladesh was won by India. The Indian team defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs at Chepauk and took a 10 lead in the series.

Sunday was the fourth day of the match and India won the match in the first session itself. Chasing the target of 515 runs, the visiting team was all out for 234 runs in the second innings. Ashwin took 6 wickets in the second innings, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 and Jasprit Bumrah took 1 wicket.

Ashwin's allround performance on his home ground played an important role in the team's victory. Ashwin, who was wicketless in the first innings, made a blast with the bat and scored a century, while he took six wickets in the second innings.

Earlier, Team India had scored 376 runs in the first innings. During this, Ashwin played a brilliant innings of 113 runs and Ravindra Jadeja played a brilliant innings of 86 runs. After the team lost 6 wickets for 144 runs, both of them had a strong partnership of 199 runs.

In reply, Bangladesh's team could only score 149 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets during this period, while Jadeja, Akashdeep and Siraj took 2 wickets each.

The Indian team got a lead of 227 runs in the first innings. After this, in the second innings, India declared the innings at 287 for 4 with the help of Rishabh Pant's 109 runs and Shubman Gill's unbeaten 119 runs and achieved a total lead of 514 runs.

R. Ashwin, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill scored centuries from India's side. While the most successful batsman for Bangladesh was captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto and the other batsmen of the team were seen struggling against the Indian bowlers.

The second Test match will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27.
