New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Indian player Pankaj Advani on becoming World Billiards Champion for the 20th time.
Advani won his 28th World Championship title (his 20th in billiards) by defeating England's Robert Hall 42 in the final at the IBSF World Billiards (150up) 2024.
PM Modi wrote on Twitter, “Amazing achievement! Congratulations to you. Your dedication, passion and commitment are extraordinary. You have shown time and again what excellence is all about. Your success will continue to inspire future athletes.”
In reply to this special post of PM, Pankaj Advani wrote, “Thank you sir for these special and encouraging words of yours. It means a lot to me. Hopefully I will win more gold medals for my country.”
Advani had defeated his compatriot Saurav Kothari 42 in the semifinals. After this Saurav Kothari had to be satisfied with the bronze medal.
The 39yearold player is the only player in the world to win world titles in all formats of both billiards and snooker. He is also the only person to win the Asian and World Championships in all formats of billiards and snooker. Additionally, he has the most IBSF World Championships in billiards and snooker.
