India won the match by 135 runs, registering its third biggest win in this format. Whereas, this was South Africa's biggest T20 defeat in terms of runs.
Tilak said in the postmatch presentation, “I wanted to tell you a funny thing, last year when I played here, I was out on the very first ball. This innings was very important for the team and the series. I was just following my plans. “But I wanted to stay focused and maintain my form. Just play my basics like I did in the last game, stay calm… it's an incredible feeling.”
Tilak was the top scorer in the series by scoring 280 runs in four matches. He was given the title of Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
It was a historic night for India in Johannesburg as they achieved several achievements. The unbeaten 210run partnership between Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma is the highest for any wicket for India in T20s.
