On his memorable comeback, Rishabh Pant said, 'I was nervous but I had to prove myself'

New Delhi. In India's spectacular victory in the Chepauk Test, Rishabh Pant not only won everyone's heart with his batting but also expressed his emotions openly.

After the match, he said that he was feeling nervous while making a comeback in the first Test match against Bangladesh. But there was a fire burning inside him to prove himself.

Rishabh Pant, who was a victim of a fatal car accident in December 2022, made a brilliant comeback in Test cricket. He scored a century of 109 runs in the second innings against Bangladesh.

BCCI shared a video of Pant on X.

In this, Pant said, “I was very nervous. But I had a passion and belief that I have to prove myself.”

He also added 39 runs in the first innings but he did not look happy with it. However, Pant made up for it in the second innings and shared a crucial 167run partnership with opener Shubman Gill.

Pant faced 128 balls during the second innings and scored a total of 109 runs. During this innings, he also hit 13 fours and four towering sixes.

He said, “This century is very special for me. I love playing in Chennai. After the injury, I wanted to play in all three formats and this was the first Test match after my return. I am enjoying it every day.”

Talking about his celebration after scoring a century, Pant said, “It was an emotional moment. I want to score runs in every match. It felt great to be back in Test cricket. I just enjoyed batting but got emotional after scoring a century. Another thing is that my presence on the field always makes me happy.”

Pant's explosive performance and Gill's patient knock laid the foundation for India's massive 280run win to give them a 10 lead in the twomatch Test series.

Keeping this winning momentum going, India would like to win the series by winning the second and final Test match starting in Kanpur from Friday.
