Kanpur, . Bangladesh scored 233 runs in the first innings of the Kanpur Test against India. During this time, Mominul Haq registered his name in the pages of history on Monday.
Mominul became the second Bangladeshi batsman to score a Test century on Indian soil during the rainaffected second Test at the Green Park Stadium. He played a century of 107 runs unbeaten on 172 balls.
The 35yearold lefthanded batsman hit 16 fours and one six. He completed his 13th Test century with a sweep off Ravichandran Ashwin and became the second Bangladeshi player after Mushfiqur Rahim to score a century in India.
Two and a half days of play was missed due to rain and Mominul started the day well, leading the innings again on the fourth day. However, he did not get support from other batsmen but he was successful in taking the team to a respectable score.
His century not only kept Bangladesh in the match but also highlighted his important role in the team. Mominul, playing his 65th Test match, has scored over 4,200 runs at an average of over 37.
With 13 centuries and 19 halfcenturies, he is now Bangladesh's fourthhighest runscorer in Tests behind stalwarts like Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan.
In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets for India. Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep took 22 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja got 1 wicket. With this, Jadeja's 300 test wickets have been completed.
