Manu created history by winning two bronze medals at the Olympic Games. She won bronze in the women's 10m air pistol and the mixed team event. With these victories, she became the first Indian athlete to win more than one medal in a single edition of the Olympics.
She finished first in the medal count for India at the Games and won two of the six medals India won. However, Bhaker, who returned to India with her victory, faced criticism from internet trolls, accusing her of flaunting her medals too much.
Breaking her silence on the matter, Bhaker has spoken out in the face of these criticisms on X.
In a respectful response, he wrote, “The two bronze medals I won at the Paris 2024 Olympics belong to India.
“Whenever I am invited to an event and asked to show off these medals, I do so with pride. It is my way of sharing my beautiful journey.”
After winning two bronze medals, Manu came very close to winning the third medal in the 25m pistol category, where she finished fourth. She has consistently brought pride to the country in shooting and is committed to winning medals for the country in the future as well.
