Iksan City (South Korea). Indian badminton player Kiran George continued his impressive winning streak at the Korea Masters by defeating Japan's Takuma Obayashi to reach the men's singles semifinals.
In the quarterfinal match held on Friday, the Indian player defeated Obayashi in straight sets 2114, 2116 in just 39 minutes. Even in his fourth match against Obayashi, George maintained his unbeaten record.
In the first game, the 24yearold Kiran took a 51 lead and extended it to seven points at the midgame break. They won the first game 2114.
In the second game, world number 44 George played strongly. Despite initial struggles from the Japanese player, Kiran took a lead of 118 and maintained it to win the match 2116.
Now George, who is the only Indian player in the BWF Super 300 badminton tournament, will face number one seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in the semifinals on Saturday.
Earlier, Kiran George had entered the quarterfinals by defeating third seed Chi Yu Jen of Chinese Taipei 2117, 1921, 2117.
