Ranchi. Jharkhand has won the 'Junior National Women's Hockey Championship' for the third consecutive time. In the final match played here on Thursday evening at 'Jaipal Singh Munda International Hockey Stadium', Jharkhand team defeated Madhya Pradesh 31. Jharkhand's Neeru Kullu was chosen player of the match.
In the exciting match, Jharkhand's Sweety Dungdung and Shanti Kumari scored in the 43rd minute to give the team a 20 lead. After this, Madhya Pradesh team got a penalty stroke in the 45th minute. Kajal of the team converted it into a goal, but after this, Neeru Kullu of Jharkhand scored a brilliant goal in the 48th minute.
A total of 25 teams participated in the 14th 'National Junior Women's Hockey Championship' jointly hosted by Hockey India, Hockey Jharkhand and Jharkhand Sports Department. The tournament lasted for a total of 11 days. Jharkhand team has won some title or the other in this tournament since 2013. Since 2018, the state team has played the final continuously every year.
Haryana and Odisha clashed for the third and fourth places in the tournament, in which Haryana defeated Odisha 21 in the penalty shootout. Haryana has won the bronze medal in the championship for the second consecutive year. In this match, Shashi Khasa of Haryana team was chosen as 'Player of the Match'.
Hockey India General Secretary Bholanath Singh present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony, special guest Rajkishore Khakha, Deputy Director, Government of Jharkhand, Vijay Shankar Singh, Hockey Jharkhand General Secretary, former international hockey players Savitri Purti, Ashrita Lakra and Kanti Ba announced the winner of the tournament and Prizes were awarded to the participating teams.
