Lima. Junior shooters performed brilliantly by winning gold in the men's 50m pistol team event at the ISSF Junior World Championships, while India also topped the medal tally with 13 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze medals.
Italy finished second with five gold, four silver and 1 bronze medal, while Norway stood third with four gold and a total of 10 medals.
The junior men's 50m pistol team of Deepak Dalal (545), Kamaljeet (543) and Raj Chandra (528) scored a total of 1616 points and defeated Azerbaijan by one point. Armenia finished third.
Mukesh Nelavalli won a bronze medal in the individual event, his sixth medal of the competition. He scored a total of 548 points in 60 shots. Azerbaijan's Imran won the gold with 552 points.
In the junior women's 50 meter pistol event, Parisha Gupta won individual silver with 540 points. However, she missed breaking the junior world record of 546 points held by Miriam Jacko of Hungary.
Sejal Kamble (529), Ketan (525) and Kanishka Dagar (513) together gave the Indian team a silver medal in this event, they were behind the Azerbaijan team. Divanshi, the fifth Indian to participate in the competition, secured eighth place by scoring 523 marks.
In the second event of the final day, Shardul Vihaan and Sabira Harris gave India a bronze medal in the junior mixed team trap competition. Both hit more than 75 targets.
Shardul scored 71 marks and Sabira scored 67 marks. The total score of both was 138. This was behind the scores of goldwinning Czech Republic (141+8) and silverwinning Italy (141+7).
In this event, the second Indian pair Zuhair Khan and Bhavya Tripathi achieved joint sixth position by scoring a total of 134 points.
The ISSF contingent has now reached New Delhi for the final leg of its 2024 calendar, where the final ISSF World Cup Final RiflePistolShotgun of the season will be held at the Karni Singh Shooting Range from 13 to 18 October.
