Chennai. Team India is in a strong position in the Chepauk Test being played between India and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, experienced offspinner allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin praised his partner Ravindra Jadeja and said that he is jealous of his star partner.
Ashwin, who scored his sixth Test century to help India score 376 runs in the first innings of the ongoing match against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, was well supported by Ravindra Jadeja. Both the batsmen shared a brilliant partnership of 199 runs.
The seventhwicket partnership between Ashwin (113) and Jadeja (86) helped India climb from 1446 in the first innings to 376. It was also Ashwin's second Test century on his home ground and his fourth as a number eight batsman in the longer format.
“I always envy him how talented a player he is. He has found ways to maximize his potential. I wish I could be like him, but I am happy with who I am,” Ravichandran Ashwin said while speaking to the media after the end of the second day's play.
The Chennai player admitted that having Jadeja at the other end helped him score his sixth Test century. His wife Preeti, father and his childhood friends were also present during his brilliant innings.
The offspinner said that he was not feeling anything after scoring the century, however he later saw the pictures and enjoyed it.
Ashwin said, “I used to criticize many things in my game earlier but now I don't do that much because I have already put a lot of pressure on myself. I used to enjoy answering my critics with my performance or in press conferences. But now it is not like that. These days the most important thing for me is to enjoy my game. Play my cricket with a smile on my face.”
