Mumbai . Team India has lost the Test series against New Zealand and is now trying its best to make a comeback in the third match. In this sequence, a major change has been made in the team. Fast bowler Harshit Rana has been included in the Indian team. Mumbai Test will be played from 1 November.
The 22yearold Delhi fast bowler, who has impressed with both ball and bat in the current season, is likely to make his Test debut on Friday. He will miss the round four matches for Delhi and will leave for Mumbai on Tuesday evening.
The selection of the young fast bowler in the Test team reflects the strong performance of good players in India's domestic circuit. A day before the recent series loss against New Zealand in Pune, he was also included in the 18man squad for the BorderGavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Rana has been included in the Delhi team after his brilliant performance in the third round match of Ranji Trophy against Assam. Earlier, he had been freed from the role of reserve player traveling with the national team for match practice.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rana showcased his allround ability by taking five wickets and also scored an important halfcentury (59) with the bat. His efforts helped Delhi achieve a resounding 10wicket win and earn an important bonus point.
His pace and accuracy caught the attention of the selectors, earning him a place in India's T20 squad against Bangladesh. Although he did not debut in that series, Rana continued to prove his ability.
Trailing 20 in the series, the Indian team would like to register a win in Mumbai before leaving for the important tour of Australia.
