New Delhi. Former England captain Alastair Cook has said that Harry Brook can come very close to Joe Root's batting record and become England's greatest Test batsman.
Brook got four lives during his unbeaten innings of 132 runs and this is his seventh Test century. He also made a partnership of 151 runs for the fifth wicket with Ollie Pope. Ollie Pope scored 77, leaving England 29 runs short of New Zealand's first innings score of 348 on the second day.
Cook told TNT Sports on Friday, “Aside from Brook's extraordinary talent, I love his setup. His head and hands are in great position right down to his eyes. Your eyes are very important to bat and you If you are in a correct position, it helps you play a good shot.
“The best thing about Harry Brook is that he doesn't struggle to settle in. From the first ball he looks like he's been in the crease for 2030 balls. He's one of the best players I've played with. Root was there, although he always had to play 15, 10 balls.”
Former fast bowler Steven Finn said that he was impressed by how Brook took England out of a difficult situation. He said he has a variety of gear, which is very impressive. His ability to play defensive strokes and understand the situation is amazing.”
