New Delhi . India's chance of winning the Perth Test by 295 runs ended with a tenwicket defeat in the pinkball Test in Adelaide.
At the Adelaide Oval, the Australian bowlers kept their balls full more than the Indian bowling attack in the first two days of the match, giving them the platform to win by ten wickets and level the fivematch series 11.
According to former Indian cricketer and national selector Jatin Paranjape, India's failure to bowl fuller balls as opposed to Australia's approach cost them the match.
“I thought we didn't bowl as well as we did in Perth. I thought the Australian bowlers bowled much better than the Indian team. I thought Bumrah was also a bit bad.”
Paranjpe said in a special conversation with , “I don't think he threw the ball as far to the batsmen as he should have. So this is the biggest reason why Australia got a lead of 157 runs. The bowlers were hit by the wicket in Adelaide. Got a lot of help and not bowling well there was a big mistake for India.”
India's bowlers also failed to take advantage of Travis Head's weakness against the short ball, resulting in the lefthanded batsman scoring a brilliant 140. Paranjape, cofounder of Khelomore and member of the BCCI Cricket Advisory Committee, believes that India's bowling strategy against Head in the remaining three matches will be the most important factor in determining the outcome of the series.
Paranjape said, “Travis Head is a player who bats on his own and his technique is very different, which makes him a very dangerous player. Like, he scored 140 runs in 141 balls on such a challenging pitch. So if he If we start well, India will have to come up with some kind of strict bowling strategy against them, otherwise the series will go away from us very quickly.”
Another main reason for India's defeat in Adelaide was their very short batting time of 81 overs in both innings, which was much less than the 183.7 overs in their win in Perth. Paranjape wants Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul to bat for a long time in the remaining matches of the series. “Definitely, we need to bat longer. I thought Shubman Gill was destined to play a good innings in the second innings, but a beautiful ball from Starc got him out. Jaiswal, Gill and KL Rahul, who are obviously no longer young, will have to become senior players by scoring big centuries on this tour. Like Jaiswal did in the first Test match, so we need one of these three to explode in the next three Test matches and score two centuries – it's as simple as that.”
Amidst the disappointment, allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been a bright spot while batting lower down the order, topscoring with 41, 42 and 42 in India's three batting innings. “I was very impressed with the way he played in the two Test matches. Certainly, he has the ability to score big,” Paranjape said. “Like he is going to Australia and playing his game and playing against the best bowling attacks in the world. So I think the future is really bright. In the future, he can be a very serious option for Hardik Pandya.” Are.''
He broke India's momentum given the tenday break between the first and second Tests. During those ten days, rain turned India's twoday pinkball practice game against the Prime Minister's XI in Canberra into a limitedovers encounter. “That 10day break did not help the Indian team. Like, you win a Test match and you want the second Test match to come very quickly. The 10day break has slowed down the team's preparation a bit.
“It was again a Test match played with the pink ball, which the team is not very used to playing. The next Test match is on the 14th, so we need to regroup – it's as simple as that.”
