A majority of the Executive Committee members have raised questions over Iyer's appointment as the IOA Chief Executive Officer in January 2024, calling it a unilateral decision by the President and refusing to ratify it.

The specific agenda of the SGM included waiver of loan amount of Rs 1.75 crore due to IOA Treasurer Sahdev Yadav for filing false information with the IOA for the benefit of the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWLF) and if any disciplinary action is to be taken against him. , then involves issuing a show cause notice. Sahdev Yadav is an official of the Weightlifting Federation.
The issue of the complaint received on 6.9.2024 against the IOA Treasurer regarding his alleged ineligibility to contest the IOA elections and if any decision or action is required therefor, will also be discussed in the SGM.
The issue of appointment of the CEO selected by the IOA nomination committee will also be under discussion during the SGM.
The specific agenda points of the SGM are:
1) To discuss the issue of loan of Rs 1.75 crore given to the Weightlifting Federation of India to pay the doping fine of IWLF. The amount owed by the IWLF is public money and is to be used for the development of the IOA and its members. In this context, the vote is on whether:
(a) It should be recovered from IWLF along with interest as recommended by the previous Finance Committee in its minutes dated 18.4.2022 and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in its letter dated 17.9.2024
Or
(b) The amount should be waived off as per the decision of the new Finance Committee and IWLF will not be required to return Rs 1.75 crore as loan to IOA.
2) To discuss the issue of complaint received on 6.9.2024 against Bhupinder Singh Bajwa regarding his alleged ineligibility to contest IOA elections and if any decision or action is required thereon.
3) To discuss the issue of the complaint received on 6.9.2024 against Smt. Rajlakshmi Singh Deo regarding her alleged ineligibility to contest IOA elections and if any decision or action is required thereon.
4) To discuss the issue of complaint received on 6.9.2024 against Smt. Alaknanda Ashok regarding her alleged ineligibility to contest IOA elections and if any decision or action is required thereon.
5) To discuss the issue of complaint received on 6.9.2024 against Shri Ajay Patel regarding his alleged ineligibility to contest IOA elections and if any decision or action is required thereon.
6) To discuss the show cause notice dated 10.9.2024 issued to the Chairman and Members of the Adhoc Committee of Volleyball for unauthorized use of IOA PAN card for opening the bank account of the Adhoc Committee of Volleyball and if the Adhoc Committee of IOA Volleyball No disciplinary action is to be taken against the members of.
7) Kalyan Choubey, Joint Secretary, IOA, for illegally granting affiliation to Indian Taekwondo Federation without the approval of the General Body of IOA and despite there being no mandatory requirement of affiliation with the International Taekwondo Federation i.e. World Taekwondo recognized by the IOC. To discuss the issue and if any disciplinary action is to be taken against Choubey.
8) To discuss the powers of the President of IOA as per the Constitution of IOA.
9) To discuss the show cause notice dated 16.09.2024 issued to the Finance Committee members and to consider if any disciplinary action is to be taken against the Finance Committee members of IOA.
10) To appoint any new committee or commission in the IOA proposed by the President.
11) To appoint an advisor to the proposed IOA by the Chairman.
Please note that this is an SGM, hence no agenda items other than those provided in the present notice will be taken up.
It is a different matter altogether that the IOA President has already received replies from the concerned members on the show cause notice.
