Dhanush Srikanth breaks world record and tops all-India podium at World Shooting Championships for the Deaf | Shooting News

Indian trio Dhanush Srikanth, Shourya Saini and Mohammed Murtaza Vania swept the men’s 10m air rifle event on the second day of the 2nd World Shooting for the Deaf Championships 2024 in Hannover, Germany. Mahit Sandhu and Natasha Joshi also won silver and bronze in the women’s event as India added five medals to the four (one gold, two silver and one bronze) they won on the first day of the competition.

Dhanush broke a double world record in blindfold shooting in a single day, scoring 632.7 points in the first qualifying round and 251.7 in the final, leaving compatriot Sourya (249.9) behind for second place. Mohammed Murtaza had earlier taken bronze after scoring 226.2 points.

India has selected a 16-member team for the 2nd World Deaf Shooting Championship 2024. The Indians got off to a flying start by winning one gold, two silver and one bronze medal on the first day of competition.

Anuya Prasad won gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event. In comparison, India also had a double podium finish in the men’s 10m air pistol event with Abhinav Deshwal taking silver and Shubham Vashist bagging bronze, while the duo also teamed up with Chetan Sakpal to clinch team silver at the Championships, which will continue till September 7. Indian shooters will compete in the air rifle and air pistol disciplines.
