New Delhi . In the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand, Team India collapsed for just 46 runs. Five batsmen of the Indian team could not even open their account. After this poor performance of the team adorned with legendary batsmen, they are being laughed at. Even Cricket Australia has taken a dig at Rohit Sharma and company.
New Zealand's two fast bowlers Matt Henry and William O'Rourke together forced the formidable batsmen of Team India to kneel. Both of them took nine wickets and bowled out India for just 46 runs on the second day. Rishabh Pant was the top scorer for the host team who scored 20 runs in 49 balls and the account of five batsmen was not opened.
With this, India has recorded its lowest score at home and third lowest Test score overall. Earlier, India's lowest score at home was 75 runs which it made against West Indies in New Delhi in 1987. His lowest score was 36 runs which he made in the Adelaide Test played with pink ball against Australia in 2020.
Criticizing India for its poor batting, Cricket Australia shared highlights of India's 36all out in the 202021 BorderGavaskar Trophy series on social media with a caption, “Is '46 all out' new?” All out is 36'?
Former England captain Michael Vaughan also trolled India, writing, “Indian fans, look on the bright side… at least you went ahead by 36 runs…”
In cloudy conditions, Henry showed excellent control over the line and length and took 5 wickets for 15 runs and also achieved the record of taking 100 Test wickets.
O'Rourke, playing his first Test in India, performed brilliantly with his combination of bounce and length ball, taking 4 wickets for 22 runs, while experienced fast bowler Tim Southee took 1 wicket.
New Zealand's precise bowling lineup and their fielders performed brilliantly and did not give India a chance to recover. Only Rishabh Pant (20) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) reached double figures.
