According to a new report by Canalys, the Indian smartphone market has seen tremendous growth. The Indian smartphone market has grown by 9 percent in the third quarter of the year.

Vivo becomes the new market leader

Especially due to monsoon and clearance sale, users have purchased smartphones in huge quantities through online and offline channels. According to the report, a total of 47.1 million or more than 4.7 crore smartphones were shipped in the last quarter. Chinese brand Vivo has shipped the maximum number of smartphones between July and September. The company's market share has increased to 19 percent. During this time last year, Vivo's market share was 17 percent. The company has shipped a maximum of 9.1 million units in the Indian market in the last quarter (Q3, 2024).

The reign of Xiaomi and Samsung has ended

Xiaomi's market share has reached 18 percent to 17 percent. The company has lost its first position in the Indian market. Xiaomi shipped a total of 7.2 million units of smartphones in the last quarter, which was 3 percent less than last year. At the same time, South Korean brand Samsung has slipped to third place. The company's market share has declined from 18 percent to 16 percent. The company shipped 7.5 million smartphones in the third quarter of 2024, down from 7.9 million shipments in 2023.

Oppo showed tremendous growth

Apart from Vivo, OPPO has recorded the highest growth of 43 percent in terms of smartphone shipments. The company has sold 6.3 million units in the last quarter. Oppo's market share has been 13 percent, which is much higher than last year's 4.4 million and 10 percent market share. Vivo and Oppo, both companies of BBK Electronics, have increased their availability on offline as well as online platforms. According to the report, Vivo T3 series and Oppo K12 series have seen good demand on offline as well as online platforms.

Realme suffered the most loss

Oppo's sister company Realme has suffered the biggest loss in the last quarter. There has been a huge decline in the company's market share and shipments year-on-year. Realme shipped only 5.3 million units in the last quarter. During this period last year, the company had shipped 5.8 million units of smartphones.

Apple, Google, Nothing, also in the race

Talking about the premium smartphone market, Apple has established its dominance here. Tremendous demand for iPhone 15 has been seen in the Indian market. At the same time, Samsung has also seen good market share in the premium segment. Talking about other brands, the market share of Motorola, Nothing and Google has also seen tremendous growth.
