Nowadays, most of the refrigerators available in the market have the option to set the temperature according to the season. In such a situation, to save electricity during winter season, set the refrigerator in winter mode. By doing this, the refrigerator compressor will not be used much and the electricity bill will also reduce. Generally, the compressor of the fridge consumes electricity because the temperature inside the fridge is maintained due to the compressor itself. In summer, the compressor has to work harder to keep the things kept inside the refrigerator cool, due to which electricity consumption is higher.
Why should the refrigerator not be switched off in winter?
- The winter season in North India lasts for 2 to 3 months. In such a situation, if you keep the refrigerator switched off for a long time, there may be a technical fault in its components. In such a situation, keeping the fridge always closed in winter will be harmful for you.
- Keeping the fridge closed for a long time will save electricity, but due to lack of ventilation, the fridge may smell bad and bacteria may also enter it.
- Apart from this, due to keeping the refrigerator off for a long time, its compressor may get jammed and it may also get damaged. The price of refrigerator compressor is very high, due to which you may suffer loss.
- The components provided in the refrigerator such as timer, thermostat switch etc. can rust and get damaged.
In such a situation, if you have switched off the refrigerator in winter to save electricity bill, then switch it on soon so that no fault occurs in the refrigerator.
