Google has announced the UPI Circle feature for its payment platform Google Pay. National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has recently launched UPI Circle, through which even those without a bank account can make UPI payments. Google Pay is one of the leading UPI apps in India. GPay users will soon start getting this feature in their smartphones. Come, let us know what is UPI Circle and how it works…
What is UPI Circle?
NPCI has introduced this feature to make the UPI payment service more flexible. This is a delegated payment service, in which a UPI user can add his family members or relatives. This can also include those people who do not have their own bank account. This feature of NPCI has been brought for those family members who depend on someone else for cash. After being added to UPI Circle, they will also be able to make digital payments.
In UPI circle, users can use two types of delegation – Full and Partial. In full delegation, the user has the freedom to set a monthly limit up to Rs 15,000. This means that other users connected in your circle can make a maximum payment of up to Rs 15,000 in a month. To make payment, they do not need to take payment approval from the primary user i.e. you. In partial delegation, all the secondary users connected in the UPI circle require approval for every transaction.
How does UPI Circle work?
In UPI Circle, the primary user must have a bank account which is linked to the UPI app. At the same time, all the secondary users coming in the circle should have only UPI ID, which they can create from the payment app. Not only this, it is necessary to have a secondary user in the contact list of the primary user coming to UPI Circle. Only after that they can add a user to their circle.
Using UPI Circle, secondary users can make payment by scanning the QR code. However, if there is partial delegation, then approval of the primary user will be required and if there is full delegation then approval is not required.
