Strike continues at Samsung plant for 17 days, thousands of workers adamant on their demands – Top News Bulletin

Samsung Strikes: Thousands of employees have been on strike for the last 17 days at Samsung Electronics' Sriperumbudur plant in Chennai. The South Korean brand's operations have been affected due to the strike. The company had recently issued a 'no work no pay' notice to the striking employees and also warned them of termination. Despite this, the employees are continuously on strike. Now the company has issued a statement on the demands of the striking employees.

What are the demands of the employees?

The employees on strike under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) are demanding that the company recognise their union. Also, the salary of the employees should be increased to Rs 36,000 per month in the next 3 years. Apart from this, the employees are also demanding better timing for their work.

Samsung presented its side

Samsung said that we think well of our employees and are paying them almost double the salary compared to other companies. In its statement, Samsung said that the employees are being paid 1.8 times the industry standard. In the Sriperumbudur plant, we take proper care of all our employees as well as take care of their interests. We have been paying higher salaries to our staff since the beginning. No manufacturing company in this area pays such a salary to its staff. However, despite this statement of the company, the employees are adamant on increasing their salary to Rs 36 thousand.
