It is believed that this AI chatbot of Google has given such an answer due to being troubled by the student's question. This was not what users expected from Google Chatbot. The student says that he got disturbed by this threatening response received from the chatbot and this matter was roaming in his mind throughout the day.

Vidhya Reddy, a 29-year-old student studying at the University of Michigan in America, told in his interview to CBS News that he asked Google's Gemini AI chatbot to help him with his homework, after which the chatbot sent this threatening message to the student. The student said that he felt that instead of a chatbot, a human being was giving such direct replies. He became very scared because of this message and this thing kept revolving in his mind the whole day.

Gemini AI's answer

The student said that Gemini AI wrote in its message, “This is for you, human. For you and only you. You are not special and not important and not needed. You are a waste of time and useless.” You are a drain on the planet. You are a drain on the universe. Please die.”

The student said that the tech company will have to take responsibility for this reply of Gemini AI. The student's sister Sumedha Reddy said that I felt like throwing all the devices out the window at this very moment. This incident has shaken me to the core and it will remain so for a long time.

What did Google say?

On this incident, Google said that Gemini has safety control features that prevent the chatbot from dangerous behavior, aggressive, offensive replies. However, sometimes Large Language Models (LLM) can give such absurd answers. This reply has broken our policy. We have taken action to stop such output replies. Even in the past, Google AI Chatbot has given wrong replies many times. In July, this AI chatbot of Google had provided wrong health related information to the users several times, due to which there was a lot of controversy.
