Demand increased in Diwali sale
According to the report of Counterpoint Research, there has been a sudden increase in smartphone sales on the occasion of Diwali. Although, smartphone sales have been a bit slow at the beginning of the festive season. Due to huge discounts and discount offers by smartphone brands, there has been a three-fold increase in phone sales week-on-week. Most phones have been purchased in metro cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata.
According to the research report, in the first phase of the festive season, there was a year-on-year decline of 3 to 4 percent in phone volume. At the same time, there has been an increase of 8 percent in the value of the phone. Due to good margins offered by retailers, sales started increasing rapidly between Dussehra and Diwali. According to Counterpoint, offline channels contribute 60 percent of sales during Diwali.
Demand for high end sales
There has been an increase of 60 to 65 percent in the prices of premium smartphones of Samsung and Apple. High end mobile phones are sold well on e-commerce websites Amazon and Flipkart. Companies also increased the sales target by 40 to 50 percent. Especially the demand for high-end handsets has increased the average selling price (ASP) from Rs 1,000 to Rs 23,000.
The demand for premium phones of Samsung, Vivo and Apple has increased a lot. At the same time, demand for Xiaomi's budget 5G phones has been seen. There has been a surge in demand for 5G smartphones in the festive season sale during Diwali.
