Jio has started 5.5G i.e. 5G advanced service. This latest 5G technology of the country's largest telecom service will offer internet at a speed of 1Gbps. A glimpse of this new 5.5G service of Jio was seen during the launch of OnePlus 13 series. This phone of OnePlus is the first smartphone to support Jio 5.5G or Jio 5GA service. This phone has been developed in India in collaboration with Jio's network technology. During the launch, the company has claimed that this phone is the first device to support 5.5G in India.
How different is 5.5G from 5G?
The advanced version of 5G is called 5.5G, which offers better internet speed, lower latency and improved network reliability compared to 5G. This technology supports integrated intelligence feature. At present, Jio has started 5.5G i.e. 5G Advanced with Release 18, which is an initial phase. This is an improvement over earlier releases 15, 16 and 17. At the same time, this advanced 5G technology will evolve to Release 21, which can be launched by 2028.
Jio launched True 5G service in 2022, which is called Stand Alone i.e. SA 5G service. At the same time, Airtel had launched NSA i.e. Non-Stand Alone 5G service. However, Airtel will launch SA 5G and Advanced 5G services later. In NSA, 5G service is provided only on the existing 4G infrastructure. NSA has more range, but SA is considered better in terms of speed. Multi carrier aggregation can be enabled in 5.5G, so that users can get seamless connectivity.
1Gbps speed in Jio 5.5G
During the launch of OnePlus 13, a demo video of 5.5G service was shown, in which the downling speed was 277.78 Mbps and in non-component carriers (Non-3CC), the downling speed of 1014.96 Mbps was seen on Jio's network. According to Jio's website, Jio True 5G users in India will get internet access at the speed of 1Gbps.
