According to the report of Tech Crunch, instructions have been given by the Home Ministry of the Government of India to remove VPN Apps. In this regard, the government has instructed Apple and Google to remove these apps from their app stores. According to the report, in the message sent to the developers of the app, Apple mentioned a “demand” from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, a division of the Home Ministry.

The VPN apps that have been directed to be removed by the Government of India include Cloud Flare's popular VPN application VPN 1.1.1.1 along with many other apps. According to the report, legal violations are being cited behind the removal of VPN apps. The Central Government has said that the content of the developers violates Indian law.
The central government has set many rules for VPN apps in India. Now the government seems to be in a mood to take action against those apps which do not meet Indian standards. The most mandatory rule for VPN apps was that it was mandatory for VPN service providers and cloud service operators to record the details of their users. In this, records of user address, IP address and transaction history of up to five years were to be kept.
