Government directs Meta and X on flight bomb threats, share data – Top News Bulletin


Flight Threats: The government has directed social media companies Meta and X (Twitter) to share data on the threat of bombing 85 planes of other airlines including Air India, Akasa Air. Recently, the government has taken seriously the fake threats of blowing up planes and has started identifying the people behind it. The government has asked multinational social media platforms to share the data, saying the issue is of public interest.

Data sharing instructions

According to PTI report, the government has called for public interest and has also requested top multinational IT companies to cooperate in identifying the people behind such fake calls. According to the report, the government has detected some people involved in these fake threats and action is being taken against them as per the rules. Quoting government sources, at present no detailed information has been received in this matter as to where these fake calls and messages have come from and who are the people behind them.

According to the report, a senior official said, “The government has asked social media companies Meta and X to share data related to such fake calls and messages targeting several airlines from their platforms. He said that social media platforms will have to cooperate in this and provide the data because there is widespread public interest in it.

Threat to bomb 85 planes

Recently there were many fake messages and calls targeting many airlines. An unidentified person calling on Wednesday also threatened to blow up Dumna airport in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, which turned out to be a fake news. A police officer gave this information. On Tuesday alone, about 50 flights including 13 flights each of IndiGo and Air India received bomb threats. Sources said Akasa Air received threats for more than 12 flights and 11 Vistara flights also received threats.
