It will now be very easy for Android users to identify fake calls. Google has rolled out AI based advanced spam call detection feature. This feature will immediately identify fake calls coming on users' phones and issue alerts. Google had introduced this feature in the Google I/O 2024 held this year. Google has announced the roll out of this AI Spam Detection feature through its blog post.
How does it work?
According to Google's blog post, this artificial intelligence based spam call detection feature works in the background of Android smartphones. It gets activated as soon as a call comes from an unknown number on the user's phone. If, during the conversation, AI detects that the caller is fake or a scammer, then an alert will be issued to the user.
After this, two options 'Not a Scam' and 'End Call' start appearing on the screen of the user's smartphone. Now it depends on the user whether to disconnect the call or not. If the user does not want to disconnect the call, he can whitelist that call. For this you can select 'Not a Spam'.
User data is completely secure
Google claims that call audio and transcriptions are not saved after the call ends, nor sent to the company's servers. All this happens directly in the device. The company says that in this feature, full care is taken of the privacy of the users.
This feature of Google has been rolled out only for selected users in America. Android beta users can use this feature. After completion of testing, it will be rolled out for all Android users. From Google Pixel 6 to the latest Google Pixel 9 users have started getting AI Spam Detection feature in the beta version.
