Satellite internet service can be launched soon in India. With the launch of this service, Elon Musk's company Starlink can officially enter India. However, it is not going to be so easy for Elon Musk. Both India's rival telecom companies Airtel and Jio have increased Musk's tension. These two companies have come together to stop Starlink from coming to India. Starlink has applied to bring its satellite internet service in India from October 2022. However, it has not yet received regulatory clearance from the government.
Airtel and Jio came together
Apart from Starlink, Amazon Kuiper is also in the race of companies to launch satellite internet service in India. Apart from this, both leading telecom companies Airtel and Jio are preparing to launch their satellite broadband service in India. Both these companies have received approval from the Department of Telecommunications to start satellite internet service in India. As soon as the spectrum is allocated, both these companies can launch their satellite internet broadband service.
Recently, the Minister of State for Communications said in the Lok Sabha that suggestions have been sought from stakeholders for spectrum allocation for satellite broadband service. The telecom regulator can give a new update regarding this by December 15. Jio and Airtel want spectrum allocation for satellite internet service through auction, while Elon Musk's company Starlink does not want this. The government is trying to find a middle path between these companies. However, if earlier reports are to be believed, it seems that the allocation of spectrum for satellite service will be done in an administrative manner.
Benefits of satellite internet
After the launch of satellite internet service, internet will be accessible even in those places where no mobile network currently works. This will especially benefit the people living in hilly and forest areas. Not only this, after the launch of satellite internet, the tension of communication being disturbed during emergency will end. To access satellite internet service, users do not need any mobile tower or optical fiber, due to which everyone will have access to the internet.
