People in the country and the world are eager to welcome the New Year. People are preparing to say goodbye to 2024 and welcome the New Year with open hearts. The country's capital Delhi is known for grand parties, grand dinners and dancing on New Year. But this time some famous clubs of Delhi are not celebrating the New Year party. In fact, on the demise of former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, the Government of India has announced seven days of national mourning from December 26, 2024 to January 1, 2025 in his honor. Programs canceled in honor of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh:
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh died on 26 December at the age of 92. He was the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 and served as the country's Finance Minister in the early 1990s, playing a key role in improving India's economy. His demise has left a void in the hearts of many Indians.
These clubs of Delhi will remain closed on New Year's Day:
To pay tribute to the former Prime Minister, some famous clubs of Delhi will not celebrate the New Year party. Organizations like Vasant Vihar Club, Delhi Gymkhana Club, Delhi Golf Club, India Habitat Centre, India International Center and Chelmsford Club have opted to cancel the New Year party.
On 28 December, Vasant Vihar Club announced that New Year celebrations had been canceled in compliance with the state mourning imposed following Dr Singh's death, The Sunday Guardian reported. Similarly, Delhi Golf Club has also canceled its New Year party. Delhi Gymkhana Club issued a notice saying, “We regret to inform you that due to the state mourning declared following the demise of former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, the New Year's Eve celebrations on 31 December 2024 will be cancelled. Have been cancelled.
