New Delhi: Big news related to the country's Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is coming out. According to sources, CJI DY Chandrachud has recommended the name of senior-most Supreme Court judge Sanjiv Khanna as his successor. The government had last Friday written a letter to the outgoing CJI asking him to send his recommendations as per the Memorandum of Procedure. Let us inform you that CJI DY Chandrachud is retiring on November 10 after a tenure of two years.
DY Chandrachud's efforts had paid off on Wednesday itself.
It was only on Wednesday that the decision was taken that the blindfold of India's goddess of justice has been removed. With this step, the Supreme Court gave a message to the country that the law is no longer blind. Let us tell you that all this exercise was done by Supreme Court CJI DY Chandrachud. This statue has been installed in the judges' library in the Supreme Court.
On the instructions of CJI Chandrachud, the statue of the Goddess of Justice was rebuilt. First of all, a big statue was installed in the judges' library. In the earlier statue of the Goddess of Justice, both her eyes were blindfolded. In the new idol, the eyes of the Goddess of Justice are open and there is no bandage. Also, there was a scale in one hand while in the other there was a sword symbolizing punishment. However, now the sword in the hands of the statue of the Goddess of Justice has been replaced by the Constitution. The scales in the other hand of the idol are the same as the first.
According to sources, CJI Chandrachud believed that now we have to move ahead from the English heritage. Law is never blind, it sees everyone equally. Therefore the form of the goddess of justice should be changed. Also, the Goddess should not have a sword in one hand but the Constitution so that the message goes to the society that she administers justice according to the Constitution. The scales on the other hand are correct that in their eyes everything is equal.
