Justice Sanjiv Khanna is the senior most judge in the Supreme Court after DY Chandrachud. On January 18, 2019, Justice Sanjeev Khanna was promoted as Supreme Court judge. Justice Sanjiv Khanna's tenure as CJI will be a little more than six months. He will retire on May 13, 2025.

Justice Sanjiv Khanna was born on 14 May 1960. Justice Sanjiv Khanna studied law at the 'Campus Law Centre' (CLC), Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Justice Sanjiv Khanna was elevated as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court in 2005 and was made a permanent judge in 2006.
Big decisions of Justice Sanjeev Khanna
Some of the major decisions of Justice Sanjiv Khanna in the Supreme Court include upholding the use of EVMs in elections. Apart from this, he was also a part of the five-judge bench which declared the electoral bond scheme of political parties as unconstitutional. He was part of the five-judge bench that had upheld the Centre's 2019 decision to abrogate Article 370 related to Jammu and Kashmir.
