New Delhi: BJP has announced the candidate for Wayanad by-election. BJP has made Navya Haridas its candidate on this seat. It is noteworthy that Priyanka Gandhi is contesting from Congress on this seat. Apart from this, BJP has also released the list of candidates for the assembly by-elections of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
It is noteworthy that Congress has made Priyanka Gandhi its candidate from Wayanad. It was announced long ago about Priyanka Gandhi that she will contest elections from Wayanad seat after Rahul Gandhi. Actually, due to Rahul Gandhi leaving Wayanad seat, by-elections are being held on this seat.
Actually, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had contested from two seats i.e. Wayanad and Amethi and he had won from both the places. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi had left the Wayanad seat and kept the Amethi Lok Sabha seat with himself.
Who is Navya Haridas?
Navya Haridas, the leader who got ticket from BJP against Priyanka Gandhi, is one of the dynamic leaders of BJP. He is a mechanical engineer by profession and did B.Tech in 2007. According to her social media profile, she is a Kozhikode corporation councilor and the state general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha.
Navya Haridas is being considered as the young face of BJP, which means choosing Navya and Priyanka among the youth will be a difficult task. BJP has made an electoral bet by fielding a popular youth leader to contest against Priyanka. Now it remains to be seen which way the youth will be inclined.
