Vijayapura: Waqf Board has claimed 1200 acres of land of farmers in Vijayapura, Karnataka. Waqf Board has also issued a notice to the farmers. Now after this notice of Waqf Board, the political stir has intensified. Actually, Shah Aminuddin Dargah has expressed its rights on 1200 acres of land in Honwada village of Vijaypura district. The local Tehsildar has sent a notice to the land-owning farmers and sought their response. Meanwhile, farmers of Honwada village in Tikota taluka have complained about this to local MLA and minister in the Congress government, MB Patil.

Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan had a meeting with

Farmers have alleged that the concerned authorities are trying to designate this area as a religious institution of Muslims associated with Shah Aminuddin Dargah. The Tehsildar has sent a notice and citing old government records, the lands have been declared as belonging to the Waqf Board. According to the farmers, state Housing, Waqf and Minority Welfare Department Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan had held a meeting with Waqf officials earlier this month. In this meeting, 'encroachment' on Waqf land was discussed. After these discussions, the authorities tried to remove the 'illegal encroachment' and under this, this controversial notice has been sent.

Notice sent to farmers after the meeting

In the notice given to the farmers, it has been said that this land belongs to Shah Aminuddin Dargah. The farmers say that this Dargah has not been in existence for centuries, while their families have been the owners of these lands for generations. About 41 farmers have received notices and have been asked to provide ownership documents. The Waqf Board claims that this notice is based on the Gazette announcement of 1974. According to the Waqf Board, the land was identified as Waqf property by the state government and was gazetted. However, some notices were sent to farmers by mistake. According to the Waqf Board, if the farmers have valid land records then the Waqf Board will not take any action against them.

BJP accused Congress government

Farmers are under stress after receiving the notice. Farmers have warned of massive protests. The farmers of Honwada have declared that they are ready to fight to protect their rights. They have pledged to continue their struggle until they get justice. After meeting Minister MB Patil, farmers of Vijaypura also met BJP MP Tejashwi Surya. Tejashwi Surya alleged that to please a particular religion, the Congress government is conspiring to hand over the land of farmers to the Waqf Board. Minister MB Patil has promised to provide justice to the farmers on this issue.

Farmers threatened to commit suicide

Another farmer Arvind Kulkarni said, 'Till date, the name of Waqf Board has never been taken in the documents and notices sent earlier, but ever since Minister Jamir came here, the DC sent a notice in the name of Waqf Board the very next day. Gave. This notice is shocking for the farmers. It is fortunate that no one has had a heart attack yet. Farmers are saying that either they will get a heart attack or they will consume poison. If even an inch of our land is taken away, we will have no other option but to sacrifice our lives. We will all commit suicide outside the District Magistrate's office.
