Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar said on Tuesday that tenders have been issued to purchase organic cow dung at the rate of Rs 3 per kg. The Government will also provide bags, transportation and storage facilities to the successful bidder. He said that high-tech technology will be used in agriculture to increase the income of farmers with emphasis on organic farming.

The Agriculture Minister said that to keep agriculture sustainable, the monthly income of a farmer family should be between Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. The Congress party had promised to buy cow dung at the rate of two rupees per kilogram before the last assembly elections, but we do not want to buy raw cow dung and will buy organic cow dung at the rate of three rupees per kilogram.
Cow dung is natural and rich in nutrients
Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar said that organic cow dung is a natural and nutrient-rich fertilizer. It can be used to improve soil health and plant growth. He said, 'Tenders have been issued to purchase organic cow dung at the rate of Rs 3 per kg and the company to which this work has been assigned will provide the bags, fill and seal them, as well as provide transportation and storage facilities. And he will be paid Rs 4-5 per kg.

The minister said that cow dung will also be stored in the warehouses of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing and Consumer Federation Limited (HIMFED). Deputy directors of all the districts have been instructed to bring the closed agricultural farms into use. Production of organic crops in closed agricultural farms will start with assured irrigation through contract farming. In this, other farmers will be motivated towards organic farming methods on the basis of profit and loss.
