Lahore: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JFLF) chief and wife of terrorist Yasin Malik, Mushal Hussain Malik, has written a letter to Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. In a letter written to Rahul Gandhi, Malik has requested to raise the issue of her jailed husband in Parliament. Mushal has claimed that her husband can play an important role in maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir. In the letter written to Rahul, he has said that death penalty is being demanded for Malik in fabricated cases against him.
NIA has sought death sentence for Malik
Mushal, who has been an assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the issue of human rights and women empowerment, in a letter to Rahul Gandhi, has drawn his attention towards the ongoing case against Malik in the 3 decade old treason case, in which the National Investigation Agency i.e. NIA has arrested him. Death penalty has been requested. NIA has filed an appeal in this case demanding death sentence to Malik. The agency had presented a charge sheet against several persons including Malik in this 2017 case.
Court has given life imprisonment to Malik
In 2022, a lower court had sentenced Yasin Malik to life imprisonment. Mushal wrote in the letter, 'Malik is on an indefinite hunger strike since November 2 to protest against the inhuman treatment in jail. This hunger strike will have a more dangerous effect on Malik's health. This will put in danger the life of the person who has chosen to give up weapons and follow the path of non-violence. Mushal alleged that the BJP government has been harassing Malik in 'all unimaginable ways' since 2019.
Mushal called the cases fabricated
Mushal said, 'Malik is being prosecuted in a 35-year-old case for waging war against India and now the NIA is demanding death penalty for him in the fabricated cases registered against him. I urge you (Rahul) to use your high moral and political influence in Parliament and initiate a discussion on Yasin Malik's case, which can lead to real peace, not 'sham', in Jammu and Kashmir. Is.'
