According to the Railway Police, all four sweepers were collecting garbage from the track. Two women were also included in these. The sweepers were collecting garbage on the bridge. During this time the train hit him. The collision was so strong that all the sweepers fell down from the bridge. The bodies of three of them have been recovered, while the body of one sweeper has not been found. It is feared that the body of the sweeper may not be found after falling into the river.
Railway police said that this accident happened near Shoranur railway station on Saturday evening. Four sanitation workers from Tamil Nadu died after being hit by the Kerala Express going from Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram. Two women are also included in these. The New Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram train hit these employees at around 3.05 pm. These sweepers were clearing garbage from the railway tracks near Shoranur bridge, a few kilometers away from the railway station. Railway employees engaged in cleaning work fell down from the track due to the collision.
Search for fourth body continues
Police said three bodies have been recovered from the area, while efforts are being made to trace the fourth body, which is suspected to have fallen into the Bharatpuzha river. A team of Railway Police is present at the spot. “It is possible that the staff may not have seen the train coming, which led to the accident, but further investigation is underway,” said a Shoranur railway police official.
