The Supreme Court will hear the constitutional status of the Places of Worship Security Act on December 4. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the Sambhal Masjid dispute and the claim of Hindus on Ajmer Dargah. A hearing on this is to be held on Wednesday. A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna will hear this case. After the Sambhal incident, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind had requested for an immediate hearing on this case, which the Chief Justice of India accepted and issued an order for hearing the case on 4 December.
This petition has been filed on the instructions of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani. The petition demands stability of the Places of Worship Security Act and its effective implementation. Senior advocates Raju Ramachandran and Vrinda Grover will debate on this topic in the Supreme Court. Jamiat's lawyers will also present their arguments in the court on petitions challenging the places of worship security law.
Statement of Maulana Madani
Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani said that it is very sad that communal people are creating new controversies every day regarding our places of worship and religious places. The disappointing aspect is that the lower courts are giving such decisions in such cases, which is creating an atmosphere of disunity and fear in the country. He said that under the guise of such decisions, not only communal elements but also the protectors of law are treating Muslims like enemies. They are not even being given an opportunity to present their side.
Sambhal's incident is not trivial
The Sambhal incident is not an ordinary incident, rather it is an atrocity which is flouting the law while setting fire to the country's constitution, justice and secularism. Maulana Madani said that due to the decisions of the lower courts, the courage of the communal elements has increased so much that now they have also claimed the hundreds of years old Dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz located in Ajmer as a Hindu temple. The surprising thing is that the local court has declared this petition worthy of hearing. From this the malignant intentions of those communal elements can be understood.
