The Supreme Court has once again shown strictness on the incidents of sexual harassment of children. Regarding the recent incidents of sexual harassment of children in many schools of the country including Badlapur in Maharashtra, the Supreme Court has asked to send a copy of the Central Government's guidelines to the Chief Secretaries of all the states for implementation. The Supreme Court said that all the states should implement the guidelines of the Center.
States should also submit status reports to NCPCR
The court asked the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to monitor the implementation of the guidelines by the states. States should also submit status reports to NCPCR.
The central government made a guideline in 2021
Let us tell you that on October 1, 2021, the Central Government has made a guideline regarding sexual harassment of children in schools. NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan has demanded from the court to implement the guidelines of the Central Government to ensure the safety of children in educational institutions across the country.
These guidelines were issued by the central government
The central government had issued several guidelines regarding the safety of children in October 2021. These include verification of staff in the school, monitoring of CCTV cameras in the school, meetings of teachers and parents and checking of safety parameters at regular intervals. The court has now directed to implement these guidelines in the entire state.
