The Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED on Thursday raided the premises of Santiago Martin, known as the 'Lottery King' of Chennai. According to the information, ED has conducted this raid in connection with the investigation of money laundering. Let us tell you that lottery king Santiago Martin had also donated Rs 1,300 crore to political parties through the electoral bond scheme. Recently, Madras High Court had given permission to ED to proceed with the investigation against Martin. After this, ED raided his premises on Thursday.

Tamil Nadu Police had recently decided to close the case against lottery king Santiago Martin and some people. The lower court had accepted this version of the police. However, the Madras High Court has given permission to the Enforcement Directorate to proceed with the investigation against Martin. According to sources, premises belonging to Martin were raided by the ED on Thursday in Chennai and some other places.
Assets worth Rs 457 crore have been attached.
Last year, the central agency had taken strict action against Santiago Martin. Martin was booked in a case related to alleged loss of over Rs 900 crore to the Sikkim government by fraudulent sale of state lotteries in Kerala. Martin's assets worth Rs 457 crore were attached in this case. Let us tell you that the main distributor of Sikkim Lottery is Martin's company 'Future Gaming Solutions India Private Limited'.
Investigation continues since 2019
The investigation by ED is going on since 2019 against Santiago Martin, who is known as the 'Lottery King' in Tamil Nadu. Martin mainly came into limelight when it was revealed that between 2019 and 2024, his company Future Gaming had purchased electoral bonds worth more than Rs 1,300 crore to donate to political parties.
