Guwahati: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that India wants to continue the peace process with China by consensus following the path shown by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Addressing the Indian Army soldiers at the Gajraj Corps Headquarters in Tezpur on the occasion of 'Bada Khana', he appreciated the efforts of the soldiers in the peace process. He said, 'We want to continue this peace process through consensus. Our former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had said that we can change friends, but not neighbours. We want to maintain good relations with our neighbors and this is India's clear policy.
'Northeast is very important from security point of view'
The Defense Minister said that although sometimes such situations arise that a war has to be fought to protect the country's borders, the government is making every possible effort to maintain peace. Rajnath said, 'This is not a small thing, it is a very big thing. We have achieved all this because of you. This mutual conversation was possible because everyone is aware of your courage and bravery. North-East is very important from security point of view. As beautiful as this area is from natural point of view, it is equally challenging from geographical point of view. The Defense Minister said that India and China have been talking for a long time to resolve the issues.
Rajnath had to cancel his visit to Tawang
Rajnath Singh said, 'This is a big development related to the border on LAC. After our efforts, we have reached a consensus on the ground situation on the LAC. Indian Army sources said on Wednesday that following an important agreement between India and China, the withdrawal of troops from Demchok and Depsang, two standoff points along the LAC in eastern Ladakh, has been completed and patrolling will begin at these places soon. Will go. The Defense Minister was to visit Tawang during the day, but due to bad weather he had to cancel his visit. He will now go to Tawang on Thursday.
