Rajat Sharma's Blog | Mysore land scam: CM's chair in danger – Top News Bulletin

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's chair is in danger as he is embroiled in the Mysore land scam case. The Karnataka High Court has given permission to prosecute Siddaramaiah but Siddaramaiah has clearly said that he will challenge the single bench's decision in a double bench. If needed, he will go to the Supreme Court but will not resign. Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot had given permission to prosecute Siddaramaiah in the land scam case, which Siddaramaiah had challenged in the High Court. On Tuesday, the High Court rejected Siddaramaiah's plea and declared the Governor's decision correct. Justice M Nagaprasanna's single bench upheld the Governor's order. Now, Siddaramaiah will be prosecuted in this land scam, an FIR will be filed against him and the allegations will be investigated.

The judge said in his order that the facts that have come to light in this case and since the allegations are against the Chief Minister's family, it should also be investigated. Now on the basis of morality, there is a demand for resignation from Siddaramaiah, but Siddaramaiah says that when there is no scam, when he has not done anything wrong, then why should he resign? The Chief Minister alleges that all this is a conspiracy of the BJP to topple the Congress government, so he will not resign at any cost. It is certain that after this decision, Siddaramaiah's problems have increased legally and politically. There is pressure on Siddaramaiah from within the party as well. So far, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi have not commented on this. Siddaramaiah is saying that he has returned the land that is being talked about, but let me tell you what the whole matter is.

In fact, the land for which the scam is being alleged, that three and a half acre land was bought by Siddaramaiah's brother-in-law in 2010 when Siddaramaiah was the Deputy Chief Minister. Siddaramaiah's brother-in-law gifted this land to his sister i.e. Siddaramaiah's wife Parvati. Mysore Urban Development Authority developed Devanur Stage Three Layout here without acquiring this land. When Basavaraj Bommai's BJP government was in power in Karnataka, in 2022, Siddaramaiah's wife took 38 thousand 283 square meters of land in the form of different plots in the posh area of South Mysore in exchange for this land. Now Siddaramaiah is accused of taking land many times more expensive in the posh area of Mysore in exchange for the village land. Siddaramaiah is also accused of forgery in the papers of family property.

When this dispute escalated, Siddaramaiah returned the land, but the matter reached the court and on Tuesday the High Court also gave its verdict against Siddaramaiah. That is why BJP is demanding his resignation. Since it is being said that DK Shivakumar also wants Siddaramaiah to resign and the path for him to become the Chief Minister is cleared, but DK Shivakumar currently wants to keep himself away from this matter. That is why after the High Court's verdict, DK Shivakumar first went to meet Siddaramaiah. After this he said that the allegations against the Chief Minister are false, Siddaramaiah will fight the legal battle, he will not resign. (Rajat Sharma)
