New Delhi: Indian Railways' statement has come amid huge crowd at railway stations and passengers' claims of tickets not being confirmed in trains. On Tuesday, the Railways claimed that 7663 special trains are being run by the Railways on the occasion of festivals in the year 2024. These trains are being run between October 1 and November 30. Last year, 4429 special trains were operated during this period.
More than 73% trains were run
Railways claimed that more than 73% of the trains have been operated in this manner this year. Between October 24 and November 4, 9.58 crore passengers traveled on non-suburban routes in Indian Railways. Last year, 9.24 crore passengers had traveled during the week of Diwali and Chhath.

Videos of crowd of passengers are also going viral on social media. The passengers have said that they have to put in a lot of effort to go to Bihar.
Railway Ministry had made this claim
Earlier, the Railway Ministry had said that amid the festival rush, Indian Railways is making every possible effort to ensure safe travel of passengers and avoid any untoward incident. The ministry had said that transporting people from one place to another across India during Diwali and Chhath is a challenging task, but after successfully completing similar tasks during Navratri and Durga Puja, the Indian Railways will now start ferrying passengers. All set to help them reach their native places for Diwali and upcoming Chhath festival.
