What was the argument of Prajwal Revanna's lawyer?

Earlier, a bench of Justice M. Nagaprasanna heard arguments on Revanna's application in the first case and two anticipatory bail petitions related to similar complaints. During the hearing, the court directed the lawyers to avoid mentioning the names of the victims, instead mentioning specific details in the documents related to the case. Referring to the timing of the events, Navadagi had stressed that the woman who had earlier accused Revanna of illegally evicting her from her house had not initially accused him of sexual misconduct.

Allegations were not made directly against Revanna: Revanna's lawyer

On the allegations under Section 66E of the Information Technology (IT) Act, Navadagi had said that these allegations have not been made directly against Revanna. Citing the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the delay in the complaint, he had argued that no satisfactory answer was received regarding the delay in this case. Special public prosecutor Professor Ravi Verma Kumar, appearing for the state, had argued that the victim was threatened by Revanna and also cited the reason for delay in filing the complaint. Ravi Verma Kumar insisted that the victim's subsequent statement mentioned the threat. He had also said that forensic evidence supports his allegations against Revanna, especially in relation to the victim's daughter.

Revanna did not hand over her phone: Special Public Prosecutor

The High Court questioned the FSL report, while Special Public Prosecutor Kumar once again justified the delay in the complaint by citing threats by the petitioner and attempts to silence the victim. Kumar had also argued that Revanna had not handed over his phone, which contained vital information, and had left the country to escape justice. After these arguments, the court had reserved its decision on the bail petitions. Revanna had lost from Hassan seat in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Cases of sexual exploitation had come to light after a pen-drive allegedly containing obscene videos involving Prajwal Revanna was circulated in Hassan ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled on April 26.
