Mumbai: Bangladesh is in the news these days for the attacks on Hindus and Islamic fundamentalists are continuously targeting minorities. Hardly a day passes when there is no news of attacks on Hindus and demolition of temples. Muslim scholars of India have expressed their anger over the atrocities being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh. All India Sunni Jamiat Ulama, Raza Academy and Jamiat Ulama-e-Ahle Sunnat jointly called an emergency meeting of Ulemas on the issue of attack on Hindus in Bangladesh at Handiwali Masjid in Mumbai, in which local Ulemas and Sheikhs participated.
'We are ready to take to the streets'
Presiding over the meeting, Haji Muhammad Saeed Noori, founder and head of Raza Academy, said, 'Atrocities and excesses in any country are not only sad but condemnable. Now when Hindus are being attacked in Bangladesh, which is a Muslim majority country, this is not acceptable under any circumstances. This is not only against Islamic teachings but also a violation of human rights. The Bangladesh government should immediately stop the attacks on the Hindu community in its country and make strict security arrangements to protect their temples. If this does not happen, then the Ulema-e-Sunnah of India are ready to take to the streets against Bangladesh.
Haji Noori warned Bangladesh
The founder of Raza Academy further said, 'During the unrest that broke out during Sheikh Hasina's rule, Bengali Muslim youth were seen protecting the temples. Now what happened that minorities are being attacked there? He appealed to interim government head Muhammad Yusuf to keep a close watch on the rioters and take special measures for the safety of minorities. Haji Noori warned that if the Bangladesh government did not take action on this, then there would be strong protests against Bangladesh across India with the help of Raza Academy and other organizations.
'The image of Bangladesh will be affected'
'Torture in any form is unacceptable'
Maulana Khalilur Rahman Noori said, 'Atrocities are unacceptable in any form, whether in our country, Bangladesh or Palestine. We will always stand against oppression and with the victims. This is a powerful message of Islam, by following which we can help the victims. Maulana Amanullah Raza appealed to the Government of India to investigate the incidents of attacks on Hindus, so that the extremist elements of our country cannot take advantage of the situation there. He said, 'All Muslims of India stand and will continue to stand with the Bangladeshi minorities.'
